Senja is full of traditional and charming villages that give us the impression that they came out of a fairy tale.
Suddenly we are transported directly to a fable with picturesque wooden houses and their grassy roofs, small shops, cafes and rustic restaurants with delicious aromas. And when we come across a complete village surrounded by mountains, fjords and beautiful beaches, we literally feel like we’re inside Frozen, one of Disney’s biggest hits.
In addition to the typical Norwegian beaches where you can see local families and foreign surfers, on the island of Senja you will be able to discover the secrets of deserted and idyllic beaches. Impeccably clean and practically empty, the white sand beaches, clear and relaxing waters give the impression that you are alone in the world.
Below are listed the main beaches and villages that Senja Experience selected to surprise you on the island of Nordic magic:
Gibostad – is a charming and complete village very close to the Gisund bridge that connects the island of Senja to the rest of Norway. Its beach is a lost paradise. Small and simple, but abundantly paradisiacal with white sands and crystal-clear waters reflecting the sky in the turquoise tone. It is the route of the Hurtigruten cruise and because it is less popular it gives the impression of being deserted. It takes us to authentic cinematic scenarios that yield wonderful photos.
Husøy – is a small island within the island of Senja. With about 300 inhabitants, the island village is really fantastic. Its connection with the rest of the island of Senja is done through a pier for vehicle crossings. It is worth making a visit and be amazed by such beauty!
Ersfjordstranda – is a paradise beach located at the end of a fjord, surrounded by mountains over 500 meters high. Impressive!
Bøvær – is another lost paradise of white sands and crystal-clear waters. If it weren’t for the difference in water temperature, it would truly be like you’re in the Caribbean.
Sørvika – is a long beach with white sand and stones. It does not belong to the island of Senja, but it is a 40 min drive from Finnsnes. This beach offers a fantastic sunset! It has a barbecue area and from the top, a beautiful view of the entire beach.
